Prof. Dr.-Ing. Riccardo La Magna

Riccardo La Magna is a structural engineer active both in research and practice. He received his PhD summa cum laude from the Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design (ITKE) at the University of Stuttgart. His thesis focused on bending-active structures, with particular emphasis on the geometry and mechanics of shells and plates and their numerical simulation. He has worked as senior structural engineer and project manager at the engineering office str.ucture GmbH, and held positions as guest professor at the chairs for Structural Design and Construction of the UdK and TU Berlin. He is currently senior associate at Jan Knippers Ingenieure where he is involved in the engineering development and project management of highly technological projects which make use of innovative materials and advanced fabrication techniques. Since 2021 he is full professor at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), where he leads the design of structures (dos) group researching on simulation technology, innovative structural systems, and new materials for building applications.
